Life Is Interesting

Ok

It has been a month since arriving in Australia and I can just say the experience is something that really makes you learn a lot about yourself and thereby improve/adapt to your new changed beliefs.I've come across a lot of people during this time ---most of them --people who are outside the circle of people you are used to since childhood and I can just say you learn a new meaning to what you can learn from them.
Maybe another day I'll describe them but for now what's important when making a shift to a new country as it is for me is getting a job to feed you,and house you.

  • For housing just in case you don't know any people around in Australia or you don't feel like getting stuck with people you don't like you can go for shared accommodation by going to the site http://sydney.gumtree.com.au/.In it jobs/housing any queries about anything are advertised. Ozzy version of Craigslist.

Next comes how you can go about getting a way of earning money.

  • Some of the easiest ways are working in restaurants,or join a Barista by joining Coffee College. There are many outlets which offer many kinds of coffee and important thing is how you handle the machine and how you serve and Standard rate is $3 just for a Cappacino. There are Sales jobs offered by privately owned Solar companies or just people who want to go solo where they drastically reduce the price of a solar installation by RECs(Renewable Energy Certificates).Something like a stock exchange thing. In these you are paid by commission ranging anything from $50 per signature----somehow with your wit and humour you have to make your customers sign into the dotted line of the contract. This rate increases depending on what you sell. But then if you really want to change your personality and want to have a go into honing your people's skills then there's nothing like this where you have to play with the psychology of people around you-----in the long run if you think about it ---this might serve you well in the interviews. These jobs usually require to learn how to drive and make it a point of getting your drivers license first of which you have to pass the DKT.
  • Then there are the old fashioned ways of searching for jobs two of which commonly used sites are www.seek.com.au,www.CareerOne.com.au,then there are others of course you just google .
  • There are recruiting agencies where you have to register as per your skills and pray each day they'll call you.Or you can bug them each day if you have nothing to do till they get a job for you just to get rid of you.
  • Another way are through the social networking sites like LinkedIn.You need to have an account there and and add people you want to know who can or might help and just click .
  • Then there are alumni networks of your respective school or college or university and look into the names of people registered and google them to find out where they are and if they have already provided you with their contact details then thats all great. Just contact them and make sure you read up something about their line of work so they know you're serious about your career.
  • If you have qualms working as a waitress or a labourer,do away with those feelings and just think this is just a means of getting your next bread ---because here you've got no family to help you out .But then there are some very helpful people who you can meet maybe at a bus stop while waiting for the bus where an elderly stranger from Sri Lanka will just offer you $50 when he hears you are new to the country and looking for a job.
  • With stuff being expensive here there are some kinds of jobs that can be outsourced to your land for cheap and you can do real great business.
  • Get in touch with your or any community Network Groups---it helps sometimes.

There are other certifications you can go for like CCNA or ISTQB which increases your marketability in Neworking and IT area and I would say just go for them instead of wasting time..
There is no easy way or the correct way to finding the job you just have to try everything and learn from them you never know what clicks.
When my sister got admitted to IIT Kanpur along with here we two brothers escorted her to the most priviledged Techological institutation in India built with the help of the USA.IIT kanpur  guys recently
Bara Imambara

made a laptop.Supposed to cost 1500 RS,cheapest in the world.Any way journey to kanpur was a pleasant one though it was hot.We went from Howrah and had a stop in MugalSarai. Its a important station.Though we stopped in many, but this one was notable.Once the train crosses West Bengal, into Bihar Ticket Collectors or anybody has no authority. You might get thrown out of the train ,and let alone you argue that you have a ticket.Roughnecks who get on train in Bihar have no respect for any authority!Safest thing is sleep ,do not sit!I aint joking Atal Bihari Vajpayee the then PM of India's  great-grand nephew was thrown out of the train while it was crossing Bihar!
Here is a Bihar joke:
Well Any way we finally reached IIT Kanpur and got with the formalities done.In the evening we met by accident Indrani Chakraborty who was with us in Bilal Sir's Delta School Of Mathematics. She is in UCLA somewhere. We ate at Campus restaurant and another I forgot the name. There are snakes, peacock in the campus.Yes,you really can observe balance of the food cycle here.

Well I browsed the book shops in the campus and there was
a book about India by lonely planet. This book really caught my interest as it gave the minutest details.I always why every white foreigner wanted to go to Sudder st in Kolkata.Well in this book it was mentioned the exact hotels in Sudder st and their prices.I was wondering where can I visit.Well browsing Lonely Planet India, closest destination was Lucknow, the City of the Nawabs.
I read the journey took 1.5 hr going and 1.5 hr coming so according to my calculation 3 hrs total time.Next morning I really woke up early and everybody was sleeping went off to the city,a journey of 30 min or so by tempo.Kanpur's only attraction is IIT Kanpur otherwise is basically a city of leather manufacturers so products  for everybody are expensive since you have the leather industry owners and the workers in this city and they mkae the difference. So any product is 10-15 Rs  more expensive.Kanpur book

Lucknow Station
I was off to Lucknow and Fatehpur Sikri caught my attention. It was an important place in Mughal Period.
Any finally reached Lucknow. Then thats when the problem started,I planned everything except where to visit and where the heck were the Nawabs and all?
There are has been few  malls in Kolkata and if you like most Upper or nearby class Bangladeshis and would like to visit Kolkata.Well actually,India is a foreign land but not Kolkata,Bangalis East or West think its theirs.Several years ago when I was in India,it was late dropping my sister at Howrah since she was going to Kanpur.(She Was studying in IIT).It was late ,around 11PM.You don't get much transport to take you from Howrah to Dum Dum at that time of the night.Any thanks to  the guy who after listening to my conversation to so called 'friend' for half an hour asked 'Kiya Bola?'.I said my so called friend hesitantly told me in the positive but in negative tone, though his dad was was helpful as he kindly suggested:"..Kafeee hotel hai",he could suggest few names too. After hearing this, the guy,non -bengali said follow me and we took a car as rent He paid for it,after he got off told the taxi driver to drop me at my destination.!I dont even know this guy.!!more intresting was that the taxi driver looked likea Sikh and sweared in fluent Hindi but turned out to be a Bangladeshi!!
Here is few malls:
Inside South Mall

Inside South Mall
  • South Mall:This is supposed to be largest in Kolkata. It is part of the 31.14 acre South City.Ot is kind expensive to the normal Indian citizens.well you have the likes of Marks&Spencer,Body Shop.Don't know if they have Christian Dior cosmetics, but they have expensiv stuff.Anyway their address is:375, Prince Anwar Shah Road Kolkata - 700 068.

City Centre Over View
Don't know if it is in the center of the city, but it is somewhere in the City.Visited it in 2004.It is in Salt lake, the most expensive area in Kolkata but compared to Dhaka, its not much.Well I just had a day left in India and the next day my visa was expiring and had to leave India. So might as well have a look at the so called City Centre as suggested by my cousin. These place had all the fixed price brand shops,in short 1-stop-brand-shops-meeting place. For example, likes of Raymond, Style,Park avenue can be found here.No more bargaining at this place,so you don't have to feel sad you got tricked and stuff.
Well the main attarction then was INOX,and at that time Bashundra Mall was'nt open any way. The  or Das sound was fantastic what you wanna say.The expensive ticket was justified by the sound systems of INOX.I forgot ,INOX is a modern American style Cinema theatre, where you have a place in your seat for placing your Cola Can or Container.(What they call it anyway?).
INNOX Entrance
Well actually I was comparing New Empire(25 Rs) Ticket aginst INOX 80 RS,and I would say it was worth it!Watched White Chicks.(comedy movie, viewer advisory required and stuff, blah, blah).
Marjada is a movie where Ferdous acted,si you can check it out.
Fedous's Movie Heres online shop for women wear: Womens wear
City Centre has developed much more than I last visited but I haent seen the latest developments.

New Market
Inside New market
NEW MARKET
THis Market one of the oldest market and still is thriving with life though much of the crowd has been pulled by City CentreI always wondered why it was called HOgg's market then I learnt it was named after Sir Stuart Hogg. You can see the British architecture existent in the clock. You may compare the New Market as the Arab souk.Very Important rds are near this place like Dharmatala. This  whole area is like a hang-out place. In Nachiketa's song
he sings in rap if you dont have any thing to do come at 201 Dharmatala.I wonder why. From Clothes to hand emrodiery to anything you will get in New Market.
Don't forget to check out these Restaurants if you are in kolkata:
  • Hotel Nizam-Don't let appearances fool you if youare used to marble tiles and etc. This place is a muslim restaurant with history. It was founded by Sheikh Hasan Reza in he 1932 when came to work as a peon from Benares. He invented the kathi roll or Kolkata's answer to the sandwich.
Info: Kolkata is the capital of state of West Bengal. It is also known as cultura capital of india.Although I do come from an area close to Kolkata:Hooghly, but I never had a chance to experience Kolkata to that extent. Population:exceeding 15 million,3rd populous metropolitan city in India. It was uptil 1912 the capital if British india. History: With the arrival of East India Company in 1690,Job Charnock an administrator of the company founded or was accredited for founding it.Kolkata was then under Nawab Siraj ad dowlaIt was in fact three villages:Kalikata, Gobindapur and Sutanuti. The name Calcutta was given formally by the British and was changed to Kolkata in 2001.Well a better explaination is given Wikipedia.:Info about Kolkata. There are some parts I did not know:Chandraketugarh is in Kolkata.Well if I did I would have visited it.:Chandraketugarh Historical places to Visit:
  • Chandraketugarh---35 Km from City
Getting there: Barastat archeaology
  • Pandua--It is located 18 km from Malda town.
Getting there: By train It is about 7-8 hours from Kolkata. All trains going to North Bengal stop at Malda. Convenient connections – Gour Express from Sealdah, Janshatabdi and Intercity Express from Howrah. [edit] By bus Rocket service from Esplanade for Siliguri. [edit] By car The normal route is to take NH 34, which links Siliguri with Kolkata, but the longer route via Durgapur Expressway from Dankuni, Grand Trunk Road from Saktigarh to Panagarh bypassing Bardhaman town, and then taking the Panagarh-Moregarm Expressway up to Morgram on NH 34 is a more comfortable and enjoyable option. ref:From Howrah to Pandua.

The first thing he asked us was "Wo wohnen Sie?,Ich wohne in Uttara"(pointing to himself)Naturalich! It meant he lived in Uttara ,so in my case would be "Ich wohne in____________".Tada!I know German, thats what I thought in A1!
